The Planet Eclipse Gtek 170R is here. We have heard rumors for months and seen a few spy pictures, now it’s finally real.
The whole point of the Gtek 170R is to be a replacement for the 160R. The 170R is not a wild departure from the 160R, one of the major changes Eclipse made to the 170R was getting rid of the Air Transfer pipe, the AT pipe took air from the tank to the regulator, now the regulator is located in the trigger frame, there is no need to the AT pipe.
Because Eclipse have placed the regulator in the trigger frame, the inside of the frame has changed a lot, while still having the same familiar feel that the Gtek has always had.
In the past the 9v battery was placed in the frame it’s now in the foregrip. By moving the battery to the foregrip, it has freed up a lot of space for the inline regulator. Just like the
While that trigger frame feels the same the foregrip is a new thing. Before with the AT pipe and the regulator in the foregrip, the 160R had a much different feel than the 170R. Without the AT pipe, the 170R has a much more modern streamlined feel.
Planet Eclipse have stuck with what works on the inside though, the 170R still packs Eclipse’s GammaCore. The GammaCore one the best bolt systems in paintball, it’s quite, kicks very little and is extremely reliable.
To get a better feel, of how I feel about the 170R make sure to check out my video review.
